Trump ignored the existence of intersex people and denied the identity of trans people - January 20, 2025
Details
Trump's issued an executive order obstensibly to preserve single-sex spaces and activities designed for women. It declares that the United States will only recognize two sexes, male and female. It listed a female as "a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the large reproductive cell" (ie XX), and a male as "a person belonging, at conception, to the sex that produces the small reproductive cell" (ie XY).
A number of people are left out from this EO. Individuals with chromosomal (DNA) anomalies do not fall into either category, such as Turner syndrome (X) and Klinefelter syndrome (XXY). Other factors cause individuals to outwardly develop as the opposite sex, such as Swyer syndrome and de la Chapelle syndrome.
Additionally, the EO condemned gender ideology for maintaining that it is possible for a person to be born in the wrong sexed body and pulled all grants related to gender ideology.
Rating justification
Regardless of the conversation around single-sex spaces, the order makes biologically inaccurate assertions, denies the existence of transgender people, discriminates against a protected class, and interferes with funds allocated by Congress.
