DOGE is an advisory committee acting as an agency - January 20, 2025

Part of 1 thread: DOGE
Administration

Details

DOGE replaced the US Digital Service, which was meant to advise federal agencies on tech.

Although DOGE was not granted any formal unconstitutional power, DOGE holds unprecented authority over other agencies and has directed the dismantling of agencies, the layoffs of federal employees, and the termination of federal funds.

Even as an advisory group, DOGE likely violated the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which requires that "the advisory committee have a fair balance in viewpoints represented, that they do not meet in secret, and that their records and work product be made available for public inspection."
