After weather forecasts had already indicated Hurricane Dorian would not reach Alabama, Trump tweeted "[...] South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated". He maintained his correctness despite statements by national weather servies and the alarm this caused to Alabama residents.

Trump displayed the original forecast map several days later, with the trajectory altered by marker to show the hurricane hitting Alabama.

The Trump administration subsequently coerced individuals at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to support Trump's narrative around the hurricane's path.
