The contracts were awarded by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for the development of mRNA vaccines. The new Health Secretary, RJK Jr, is an mRNA vaccine skeptic and previously suggested poultry farms should let the bird flu spread unchecked to study chicken immunity.
