Details
Trump stated Musk would recuse himself from any conflict of interest, but Musk never did. DOGE had unprecedented access to government data (which may have violated the Privacy Act of 1974), influence on government contracts, and oversight of agencies that were investigated Musk's companies.
DOGE aides who led massive layoffs at federal agencies were also reported to own stock that agency employees are prohibited from owning due to conflicts of interest.
