Details
Trump has made numerous statements about a "Muslim problem" and called for increased surveillance of Muslims in America, including a Muslim database. He also invented and spread a false story of Muslims in New Jersey celebrating the 9/11 attacks.
Trump and his administration readily referred to the Executive Order as a Muslim travel ban, which targeted Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen. It was blocked by the courts.
The Trump administration eventually tweaked the ban into Proclamation 9645, which added non-Muslim countries and adjusted the ban process. The Supreme Court narrowly upheld the proclamation.
