Trump issued an executive order against Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison (Paul Weiss) that sought to eliminate contracts and security clearance for the law firm and bar employees from federal buildings and jobs.
The executive order cites a Paul Weiss partner's suit against individuals involved in January 6th, the firm's employment an Mark Pomerantz who investigated The Trump Organization for fraud, and discrimination.
The executive order was revoked after Paul Weiss agreed to $40 million in pro bono legal services to causes aligned with the Trump administration, issued a statement of wrongdoing against Pomerantz, and ending DEI initiatives.
Pomerantz released a statement, “I engaged in no wrongdoing by working as a prosecutor to uphold the rule of law."
Rating justification
A similar executive order against Perkins Coie was found to be unconstitutional for violation of the First, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment.
