Details

Trump issued an executive order against Susman Godfrey that sought to eliminate contracts and security clearance for the law firm and bar employees from federal buildings and jobs.

The executive order claimed the firm has degraded the quality of American elections and engaged in discrimination. The election comment likely refers to firm's representation of Dominion Voting Systems in their lawsuits against Fox News and others for false claims of fraud in the 2020 election. In 2023, Fox News acknowledged they made false statements and settled for $787.5 million, which was the largest settlement for defamation in US history.

Rating justification

A similar executive order against Perkins Coie was found to be unconstitutional for violation of the First, Fifth, and Sixth Amendment.
